These terms explain what GovBot Environmental Site Context is, and what it is not.

What the service is

A read-only research aid that prepares source-linked briefs of mapped wetlands, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service critical habitat and nearby U.S. Environmental Protection Agency facility records at a public research point. It reads public agency records and does not change them.

No account or charge

No sign-in, API key, payment or subscription is required.

Screening information only

Briefs are screening records, not a clearance decision. The service does not provide:

• a wetland delineation or jurisdictional determination;
• a permit, legal or Endangered Species Act consultation result;
• a Phase I or Phase II environmental site assessment;
• an engineering certification; or
• any guarantee about contamination or safety.

For decisions that depend on these questions, consult the responsible agencies and qualified professionals.

Sources and accuracy

• Records come from the source agencies. Their coverage, dates and accuracy vary, and GovBot does not correct them.
• Gaps in mapping or no mapped features do not establish absence.
• Critical habitat maps are not the controlling legal boundary, and NOAA Fisheries designations are not included.
• Nearby facility records alone do not establish on-site conditions or causation.
• Unavailable sources, partial results and missing fields are labeled, not filled in.

Your use

Use public research points and public EPA Registry IDs. Do not submit personal information. Verify important details with the source agency before relying on them.

Availability and changes

The service may change, be interrupted or be withdrawn, and these terms may be updated.
